It's the second Thursday of the month again which means SDCS/KPLUG time!

Peter Ashford will be giving a presentation on the Linux boot process.
This will include BIOS/UEFI, MBR/GPT partition tables, Secure Boot and
Network Boot.

I've definitely been needing to learn more about UEFI and GPT etc.

We will be meeting in the usual place at UCSD Extension on Greenwich
Drive in the UTC area just off the 805. I don't have the room number on
hand yet so please check the monitor in the lobby for the room number.

Unfortunately, I don't know if I will be able to make it tonight as I
have been called out to the airport for a flight but I'll try. "Go on
without me!" :)

Would anyone else like to present on some topic? Or I can always pull
something out of my hat, typically related to security or I could do
something more basic and Linux newbie related. As always, I'm open to
suggestions.
It is not a presentation per se, but I am going to bring one of my
open source cellular modem boards (the ones that work like a charm on
T-Mobile's GSM/2G network despite the efforts of certain members of
this group who are doing everything in their power to shut it down)
and set it up on one of the tables in the back of the room where I
usually sit next to a power outlet. I will bring both of my
loudspeakers (the one made by TI back in 2002 that sounds great as
well as my own which is inexplicably quiet), so anyone interested can
come over to my table and hear the difference with their own ears, as
well as see with their own eyes how I make calls through this 100%
open source cellular modem with AT commands.
