Hello fellow LUGers,
Some of you may remember me giving several presentations at KPLUG over
the years about my efforts to produce a 100% FLOSS GSM cellular
baseband. I am glad to report that my project has now advanced to the
point where we (FreeCalypso) have a ready-to-build board design, and
now we need to physically produce the first batch of these boards.
Toward that end I have launched a crowdfunding campaign:
https://www.gofundme.com/fcdev3b-board-production-2umevjw
Thus if any of you would like to play with a libre GSM/GPRS modem,
i.e., a modem whose deepest internal workings you are fully allowed
and encouraged to tinker with (firmware in source form and the ability
to load your own fw builds), this is your chance to get one!
If no one contributes to this campaign, I will still do it all on my
own, but it will probably be around the end of 2017 - hence this
crowdfunding campaign is an opportunity for the community to make it
happen sooner.
Hasta la Victoria, Siempre,
M~
