Anyone reading the new Linux Journal?

I used to subscribe to the Linux Journal when it was a print magazine.
Then they pissed me off when they changed the format to some weird size
and then really pissed me off when they arbitrarily discontinued the
print edition and went digital without my agreement but they still kept
my money. Now I'm getting flooded with e-mail begging me to subscribe.

I might be willing to forgive them if they have any decent content but
I've been getting along fine without them for many years now and don't
see where they can any longer provide any value to me.

Is anyone subscribed to the new Linux Journal able to provide some
commentary on its content?

Gus,

You described my experience pretty well.  I keep checking their
articles online to see if they entice me to subscribe, but so far have not.

I keep getting Linux Format off the B&N newsstand, and often Linux
Pro Magazine (with LinuxVoice bonded into their mag now).  I like the
paper magazines.  It's kind of funny when I look around in a coffee shop
or similar place I am studying my magazines while nearly all others are
on a laptop or phone...  I don't subscribe to the British magazines
because of the large format and the included disc which I don't want
stuffed into my small mailbox.

Thank You for bringing up the question!

I unsubscribed a few years ago because I wasn't really reading anything of interest anymore; they seemed to be focusing primarily on hobbyist and consumer-grade stuff, and I made a conscious decision to focus on developing professionally rather than reading all the random stuff.

I subscribed to the new digital edition specifically to read the whole issue they did on git. It was actually pretty good, and I've kept reading. In particular, Reuven Lerner's column on Python has been consistently excellent. And the hacky/hobbyist stuff, while not gone, is written at a level where I can pick up interesting tidbits and learn about developments that could help me later.

I don't read every article and column every month, but for me at least it's been worth what they're charging for subscription fees these days.
